The winners of GlaxoSmithKline’s first Discovery Fast Track competition are in — and one is from Philadelphia. The contest, created as a vehicle to translate academic research into starting points for new potential medicines, attracted 142 entries across 17 therapeutic areas from 70 universities, academic research institutions, clinics and hospitals in the United States and Canada. The selected scientists will collaborate with GlaxoSmithKline’s “Discovery Partnerships with Academia” team to screen and identify novel compounds to test their hypotheses.
