A little drool could go a long way for cancer research. At least that’s the message Genentech Inc. and 23andMe Inc. — the powerhouse biotech company and consumer-focused DNA analysis website — are spitting out. Backing the companies’ effort to enroll 1,000 people in a clever trial of the blockbuster cancer drug Avastin, Genentech produced a minute-long YouTube video portraying people in various settings spitting into plastic receptacles.
