FUJIFILM Unveils Aspire CRm Digital Mammography System

STAMFORD, Conn., March 30, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- FUJIFILM Medical Systems U.S.A., Inc. today unveiled the Aspire CRm Full Field Digital Mammography (FFDM) system, the latest addition to the company's expanding women's health offering. The Aspire CRm is an ideal option for smaller, stand alone breast imaging centers who want to easily transition from analog to digital imaging.

"With the Aspire CRm, Fujifilm women's health offering continues to expand to provide options to facilities of all sizes," explains David Hotchkiss, Director of Modality Solutions Marketing at Fujifilm. "Gone are the days of small facilities having to sacrifice image quality or ease-of-use because a digital solution was out of their price range. With the introduction of our Aspire CRm, these facilities can now offer their patients the benefits of digital mammography instead of losing these patients to neighboring facilities who offer this technology. We are the first and only vendor to provide both CR-and DR-based FFDM systems in the U.S., and now we have a solution that is right for any and every facility's unique needs and varying budgetary requirements."

The Aspire CRm is an affordable FFDM system that eliminates the use of film to improve overall workflow while increasing daily productivity, and offers optimal image quality and improved dose efficiencies over analog systems. Like the other systems in Fujifilm's comprehensive line of women's imaging technologies, the Aspire CRm provides radiologists with the company's legacy 50 micron resolution. Additionally, it delivers Fujifilm's legacy capture technology that improves clarity, contrast and exposure latitude as compared to screen-film mammography. The Aspire CRm provides dose-lowering characteristics that result in improved diagnostic confidence.

Fujifilm is the world leader in FFDM with more than 8000 systems installed worldwide. The company was the first to bring computed radiography- (CR) based FFDM to the U.S. market in 2006 and has been successfully serving the needs of hospitals and imaging centers with the Aspire ClearView-CSm and the Aspire ClearView-1m, multi- and single-imaging plate systems with Image Intelligence, Fujifilm's proprietary image processing technology. In 2011, Fujifilm introduced the Aspire HD, a proprietary FFDM detector that uses innovative dual layer amorphous selenium (a-Se) and Direct Optical Switching (DOS) technology that creates a direct image transfer resulting in a higher efficiency image capture.
