CHICAGO, March 12, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- On March 11, 2019, the first lawsuit was filed in the Supermercado Rivera Salmonella food poisoning outbreak by prominent Chicago personal injury attorney Jeffrey Goldberg of Goldberg & Schulkin and Salmonella food poisoning lawyer Jory Lange of The Lange Law Firm.

The lawsuit was filed on behalf of a minor child, who was hospitalized with a Salmonella infection after eating carnitas from Supermercado Rivera. Copies of the complaint are available upon request.

Supermercado Rivera is being investigated by Chicago’s Department of Health. 6 Chicagoans were infected with Salmonella after eating Supermercado Rivera’s carnitas. The carnitas were sold on February 23 and February 24. Chicago DOH warns anyone who purchased and then froze food from Supermercado Rivera’s kitchen on these dates to not eat it. It may be contaminated with Salmonella.

Chicago DOH says the Salmonella-contaminated food products are no longer being served at Supermercado Rivera. Symptoms of salmonella include diarrhea, fever, and abdominal cramps, within 6-72 hours of eating contaminated food.

“Salmonella infections can be very dangerous, especially for children. Even after the initial infection, there can be severe long-term complications, including Reactive Arthritis,” says food safety attorney Jory Lange. “Anyone who became sick after eating at Supermercado Rivera should seek medical attention.”

Those who became sick after eating at Supermercado Rivera may be entitled to compensation. To learn more about a Salmonella food poisoning claim, please visit The Lange Law Firm’s website, www.MakeFoodSafe.com, or call 833.330.3663.
