The 2013 Best Places to Work program is based on an online survey of company employees. Companies are grouped in categories based on the number of employees who work for them. The Pittsburgh Business Times has been presenting these awards since 2002.
“We are honored to once again be recognized as one of the Best Places to Work in the Pittsburgh region,” stated Patrick Daly, Cohera Medical president and CEO. “Cohera is committed to maintaining a positive work environment that fosters hard work, innovation, collaboration, and passion.”
Alan Robertson, publisher of the Pittsburgh Business Times, congratulated Cohera Medical on its achievement. “The future success of area businesses, and of the region as a whole, will be based on the quality of our workforce,” he said. “Any company that makes the Best Places to Work list for two years in a row is clearly a leader in workforce development.”
Cohera Medical’s TissuGlu® is an internal surgical adhesive for large flap surgeries, such as abdominoplasties, that eliminates or reduces fluid accumulation and the need for post-surgical drains. Currently, most patients who undergo abdominoplasty procedures or other large flap procedures, such as mastectomy or inguinal lymph node dissection, require the insertion of drains to remove fluids that accumulate under the skin at the surgical site. Drains are often uncomfortable for the patient and may inadequately remove the fluid accumulation (seroma) which can lead to additional procedures. TissuGlu forms a strong bond between tissue layers, helping to reduce the fluid that can accumulate during healing. This benefits the patient by ultimately reducing the need for postoperative drains.
Cohera Medical received CE Marking approval for TissuGlu Surgical Adhesive and began selling product to hospitals and surgeons in Germany in September 2011. TissuGlu has been used successfully in more than 700 various surgical procedures by leading surgeons. In the U.S., Cohera Medical recently completed enrollment of its No Drain Abdominoplasty clinical trial for TissuGlu.
