PHILADELPHIA, Nov. 16, 2005 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- CIGNA Corporation announced today that the senior leadership positions for CIGNA Group Insurance and CIGNA Dental & Vision Care are being combined and that Karen S. Rohan will assume this newly created position, effective immediately.
Rohan has served most recently as president of CIGNA’s health care specialty businesses, including the Pharmacy, Behavioral, Dental and Vision business units for CIGNA HealthCare. Her responsibilities included the strategic planning, business development and financial management of the specialty businesses. Before being named to that role in November 2004 she had served as president of CIGNA Dental & Vision Care.

Edward Hanway. “Although our dental and vision products will continue to be primarily distributed through CIGNA HealthCare’s sales force, Karen will capitalize on our competitive position by creating additional distribution capabilities for those products through CIGNA Group Insurance.”
Rohan has held numerous financial leadership roles since joining CIGNA in 1991, including serving as controller and senior vice president of underwriting for CIGNA HealthCare and as financial officer for CIGNA HealthCare’s field operations, where she improved earnings performance and drove improvements in broker/sales operations, membership reporting, contracting and claim accuracy.
In addition to assuming the presidency of CIGNA Group Insurance, succeeding Greg Wolf, who is leaving the company, she will continue as president of CIGNA Dental & Vision.
Rohan is a graduate of Boston College and Boston University and is a Certified Public Accountant.
