China Sets Lofty Goals for its Bioindustry

June 27, 2007 – China wants to be number one in the world in bioindustry output by 2015, with total output at a level of two to three trillion yuan ($250 billion to $380 billion) by 2020. These goals were articulated by Wan Gang, Minister of Science and Technology, in remarks delivered at the Opening Ceremony of the 2007 International Conference on Bioeconomy, being held this week in Tianjin.
