Bone Marrow Unit At Birmingham Children’s Hospital Closed By Bug

The bone marrow transplant unit at Birmingham Children’s Hospital has been closed after five patients were struck down with mysterious illnesses. All of the children have been moved to intensive care where they are said to be seriously ill. Hospital chiefs said the children, who have all undergone bone marrow transplants, are suffering serious respiratory illness. A boy of 14 died from a similar illness a few weeks ago.
