14 May 2013 -- Today the Technology Strategy Board (TSB) released its Delivery Plan for 2013-14, commenting on this announcement Steve Bates, BioIndustry Association (BIA) Chief Executive Officer, said:

“The Biomedical Catalyst scheme has been the most successful TSB programme for BIA members in the last year and I welcome the commitment of up to £30 million for a third round of the scheme in the 2013-14 Delivery Plan. The scheme is already leveraging additional private sector investment and helping companies expand more quickly delivering jobs and growth.

“The TSB’s Delivery Plan for 2013-14 sets out a wide variety of programmes that can help innovative UK life science businesses grow more quickly. I encourage BIA members to take the opportunities provided by the initiatives that total more than £120 million in the health and high value manufacturing sectors this year.

“The BIA calls on the government to use the upcoming Spending Review to provide for additional funding to re-fill the Biomedical Catalyst to enable further rounds to meet demand. The Biomedical Catalyst has proven to be the government’s most successful biotech initiative, is delivering jobs and growth and now needs to be secured for the future.
