BBI Solutions demonstrated how its pioneering point of care testing enables users to securely read, interpret and transmit rapid assay results at the world’s largest laboratory medicine tradeshow, the American Association for Clinical Chemistry (AACC) annual conference.
The leading specialist in immunoassay development and manufacturing sent a 14-strong delegation to the AACC Clinical Lab Expo, which attracted more than 20,000 attendees to network and explore some of the industry’s latest technological advances.
At the tradeshow, BBI Solutions’ mobile solution, Novarum™, launched a previously unseen demonstrator to an invited audience of more than 40 industry leaders from leading point of care and rapid assay providers. The demo offered potential customers an opportunity to experience how the app can remove complexities and avoid common obstacles to accurate point of care test interpretation.
Guests were shown how to record a patient profile, run an imitated malaria lateral flow assay, read the result and communicate the data in real time. The hands-on experience demonstrates how the customisable app can deliver lab quality results in any setting.
BBI Solutions’ innovative Novarum mobile technology mitigates many of the risks identified around visual-read point of care assays by the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA), which establishes quality standards for all laboratory testing to ensure the accuracy, reliability and timeliness of patient test results.
CLIA Waived tests must demonstrate that a device is simple to use, has low risk to public health, and that an untrained person can consistently record accurate results independently.
John Hanson, Chief Commercial Officer at BBI Solutions, said: “We’re thrilled to be returning from another highly successful delegation to AACC. The launch event was fully subscribed, and it provided an excellent opportunity to introduce people to Novarum’s broader capabilities that go far beyond just reading a test.
“Over the course of the tradeshow, it was clear to see that the audience we are attracting has evolved significantly and the companies we’re now generating interest from are genuine household brands. Our ambition was to help potential customers envision what it would be like for a healthcare professional, patient, or a non-clinical user to administer a test and to highlight how our software mitigates risks linked to point of care testing. We received overwhelmingly positive feedback from guests who visited our stand and we’re looking forward to following up and building a pipeline of developments on behalf of our customers over the coming weeks and months.”
