CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas, Nov. 18 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Consortium Service Management Group, Inc. (BULLETIN BOARD: CTUM) announced today the company’s Live Tissue Connect subsidiary has begun human clinical trials with the Military Medical Center of the Ukraine Air Force in Vinnitsa, Ukraine for procedures in vascular, laparoscopic, gynecological, urological and general surgeries.
The contract was signed between Major General P. S. Melnic, chief of the Military Medical Center of the Ukraine Air Force, and Olga Ivanova, president of IAW, the foreign relations department of E.O. Paton Institute of Electric Welding in Kiev, the development contractor with CSMG.
Donald S. Robbins, president and CEO of CSMG, said, “We have always believed our technology holds exceptional benefits for the armed forces in both field and base hospitals. The interest shown by the Military Medical Center of the Ukraine Air Force further confirms the continued high regard and enthusiasm the Ukraine medical community has for our innovative medical technology. With almost 3,000 successful surgeries completed so far in four major Ukraine civilian surgical centers, our versatile tissue bonding/welding technology has shown its effectiveness in facilitating highly positive surgical outcomes, shorter surgery times and faster recovery times with minimal or no bleeding.”
Col. N. P. Drachevskity, M. D., chief surgeon of the Military Medical Center of the Ukraine Air Force said, “I am excited about using the tissue bonding/welding technology in our medical center. The prospects for developing new procedures, especially in my personal specialty area of cardiovascular surgery, are very promising.”
CSMG’s Tissue Bonding Technology
CSMG’s patented tissue-bonding device bonds through radiofrequency fusion and reconnects living soft biological tissue (organs) without the use of foreign matter or conventional wound-closing devices such as sutures, staples or glues. The technology leaves virtually no visible scar after a few months. Unlike other tissue coagulation methods, the CSMG-patented technology bonds and reconnects incised tissue and avoids charring, searing and necrosis, using a patented low-heat delivery technology. U.S. and Australia patents have been issued with other U.S. and foreign patents pending.
In Ukraine, almost 3,000 successful human surgeries in clinical trials have been completed using various procedures. Surgeons at four Ukraine hospitals are using the tissue bonding technology in clinical trials and performing both open and laparoscopic surgical procedures. Procedures so far have involved the bonding and reconnecting of incised or separated human soft tissues in a variety of organs while restoring the normal function of the body organ or tissue.
CSMG owns the technology and exclusive world rights to the medical device through Live Tissue Connect, Inc., a subsidiary corporation formed for the development and exploitation of the platform technology. The technology was invented and developed at the E.O. Paton Institute of Electric Welding, National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine at Kiev.
