Tim Edwards Elected New BioIndustry Association Chairman

2 September 2010 Effective today, the BioIndustry Association (BIA) board has elected Tim Edwards as its new Chairman. Mr Edwards succeeds Dr Clive Dix, who steps down following two and a half years as BIA Chairman. Dr Dix will remain a member of the BIA Board.

Mr Edwards is President and Chief Executive Officer of Cellzome Inc. Previously, he held various positions at British Biotech plc including Board Director and Acting CEO, and before that was an Investment Banker in London specialising in the healthcare sector. Mr Edwards is also Chairman of The Mulberry Bush Organisation and a Fellow of the RSA. From 2005-2007, he was Chairman of ReOx Limited, a biotech company spun out of the University of Oxford.

Dr Clive Dix, outgoing Chairman of the BIA, said: “I am delighted that Tim has been elected as the new Chairman of the BIA. I am sure that his experience in the UK life sciences sector will be of great benefit to the organisation and its members.”

Mr Edwards will deliver an introductory presentation at the upcoming BIA BioLeadership Conference.
