PHILADELPHIA, Oct. 21 /PRNewswire/ -- The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has granted Health Partners, the non-profit health plan sponsored by seven area hospitals and health systems, a contract to offer its Senior Partners Silver plan to residents of both Bucks and Montgomery counties in 2006. The plan will also to be available in Philadelphia.
Senior Partners’ Silver plan is designed for Medicare beneficiaries who also receive Medicaid benefits. It provides all the benefits offered by original Medicare, including the new Part D prescription drug benefits, plus extra benefits not covered by Medicare or Medicaid.
These additional benefits include up to $100 a month for over-the-counter drugs and health supplies, and unlimited routine transportation for plan-covered doctor visits. The Silver plan also includes coverage for Weight Watchers(R) meetings, and other extra benefits.
New areas of service will include but are not limited to Norristown, West Conshohocken, Warminster, Bristol and Bensalem. To date, there are approximately 143,566 eligible Medicare recipients who reside in these counties combined. Senior Partners anticipates to enroll a total of 1,500 of those eligible as new members during the first year of establishment in each county.
