SmartBrief -- The U.S. Senate has cleared legislation providing the FDA with an additional $150 million for the fiscal year ending Sept. 30, 2009. The supplemental-appropriations bill, which awaits President George W. Bush’s approval, would allocate $28 million for the Center for Drug Evaluation and Research and related field work involving the Office of Regulatory Affairs. The funding is less than the $275 million the Senate previously approved in May.
