Richards Micro Tool Adds Straightening Capability & Grinding Capacity

January 5, 2011 -- Plymouth, MA – Richards Micro Tool, a contract manufacturer of Medical/Dental Rotary Cutting Instruments (drills, taps, burrs, & reamers) announces the completion of their internal straightening cell. The straightening process is performed to counteract any distortion during heat treating. According to Lee Clermont, Medical Compliance Coordinator, “It is easy to underestimate the importance of this process but it definitely impacts an instrument’s efficacy. We typically want to hold straightness tighter than our customer’s specification & with this now in-house, we’ll insure it is.”

Richards also has additional grinding capacity due to the acquisition of a new auto-loading 8 axis CNC Grinder. The machine is capable of grinding components up to 10.5” long and is equipped with optional steady rest & internal wheel dressing features.

In addition to contract manufacturing, Richards also offers an extensive line of industrial cutting tools from .005” to .500” diameter & private labels for major Cutting Tool OEMs. For additional information, please visit www.richardsmicrotool.com
