Kemeta acquired the base sensor technology developed by Dow from RoseStreet Labs, LLC in April 2007 for detection and monitoring of an individual’s fat burn rate. Kemeta has since been accelerating the commercialization activity through collaborations with leading physicians and clinics in the field of Diabetes and Weight Management. The terms of the deal were not disclosed.
In a single exhaled breath, the Kemeta palm-size breath sensor provides the user with immediate feedback on their rate of fat metabolism and hence the performance of their daily diet and/or fitness regimen. The Kemeta breath sensor measures an individual’s fat burn rate with no influence from water weight or lean muscle mass changes that affect weight and often de-motivate dieters. This daily biofeedback furnishes the user real-time information about their body’s metabolic response, permitting them to make more informed lifestyle decisions. Kemeta plans product introduction in 2008.
