Integrated Healthcare Holdings Announces Verification By American College Of Surgeons Of Western Medical Center-Santa Ana

COSTA MESA, Calif., Oct. 24 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Integrated Healthcare Holdings, Inc. (IHHI) announced that its flagship hospital, Western Medical Center-Santa Ana, has been verified as a Level II Trauma Center by the American College of Surgeons (ACS) for its commitment to providing top quality care standards. This is the first time in 11 years that Western Medical Center Santa Ana has received such verification.

Western Medical Center Santa Ana, the oldest hospital in Orange County, has served the greater Orange County community for more than 100 years.

While ACS verification is not a requirement for a Level II Trauma Center designation, trauma experts at the hospital were dedicated to achieving this verification to demonstrate its commitment to providing high quality care to the community. "This verification confirms that our trauma unit is prepared to successfully treat any injury or condition," said Humberto Sauri, M.D., Director of Trauma Services at Western Medical Center Santa Ana. "At any time of the day or night, our team of specialists and state-of-the-art facility are ready to handle any emergency."

The ACS's Committee on Trauma verifies that regardless of injury or medical condition, the trauma unit will have on staff the full-spectrum of medical and support specialists needed to treat trauma patients. The organization's requirements confirm the caliber of care provided by the trauma center from the admission to the hospital through rehabilitation. The verification also means Western Medical Center Santa Ana is qualified to treat the armed forces personnel should area military hospitals exceed capacity.

Key elements that comprise a Level II Trauma Center include 24-hour immediate coverage by general surgeons as well as coverage by subspecialists in orthopedic surgery, neurosurgery, anesthesiology, emergency medicine, radiology and critical care.

"We are very proud of this verification and congratulate our hard-working trauma team for their tireless energy in achieving this goal," said Dan Brothman, Chief Executive Officer of Western Medical Center Santa Ana and Senior Vice President of Operations of IHHI. "What this means for the community is that severely injured patients are able to receive care that meets the highest national standards of care developed for trauma centers like ours."
