ST. PAUL, Minn., Sept. 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Spend a day "Healing Through Feeling" at the Many Faces of Hope Women's Cancer Survivorship Conference. The conference, presented by HealthEast Cancer Care, is an uplifting day for all women who have survived cancer, as well as for their friends and family who love them.
It will be held on Saturday, October 8 from 9 am to 3:30 pm at the Sheraton Four Points Hotel at 1330 Industrial Boulevard in Minneapolis. The cost of the conference is $25. There are scholarships available. This year's conference focuses on the healing power of getting in touch with your deepest emotions and learning how to share those emotions with those you love.
Conference speakers, who will provide inspiration and information, include Kristin Stinar, an ovarian cancer survivor, who is an investigative reporter for KSTP-TV in Minneapolis/St. Paul. Stinar received an Emmy for her role in the station's "Race for a Cure" project. Stinar will share her personal story of survival.
The morning keynote speaker is nationally known researcher, David Spiegel, MD, who will talk about integrative or alternative treatments for cancer. His landmark study showed how psychotherapeutic treatment helped cancer patients better cope with their pain and live longer lives.
The afternoon keynote speaker is Jackie Pflug, who survived an airline terrorist hijacking in 1985. She was one of three Americans critically shot in the head, thrown on the tarmac and left for dead. 59 passengers were killed in that hijacking in Egypt. How she survived is a message of hope and encouragement for everyone!
Other conference events include a special art exhibit showcasing how several cancer survivors have used art as a healing tool.
