BISHOPS STORTFORD, England--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dotmatics, a leading provider of scientific informatics solutions and services, today announced Version 5.0, a new release of the company’s informatics suite. The new suite contains major enhancements that enable scientific teams to become more productive and better communicate between biologics and small molecule in-house, and externalized collaborative research teams.
“We bundled new capabilities, partnerships and upgrades that address the evolving needs of customers in all aspects of informatics-based scientific discovery including Electronic Lab Notebooks (ELNs), chemical registration, inventory, assay data management, scientific search, work requesting, and scientific collaboration.”
The new release allows IT departments to integrate Dotmatics seamlessly into existing informatics landscapes while minimizing the total cost of ownership through ease of maintenance, minimized user training, and optional cloud deployment.
“5.0 is an innovative suite that offers significant improvements in the user experience and interface, collaborative tools, infrastructure enhancements, and exciting new chemical capabilities,” said Dotmatics CEO, Stephen Gallagher, PhD.
Improved User Experience
A cleaner, simpler framework and new drag and drop user interface for the ELN (Studies Notebook) includes an intuitive redesign with navigation paradigms that allow scientists to find and share information quickly. The new interface allows for quicker training to large and remote user teams, supports increased deployments at CROs, and external partners providing improved productivity in all scientific disciplines. New performance monitoring tools and experiment dashboards greatly increase the ability of the project managers to monitor progress across internal or external discovery projects
When used in conjunction with new releases of Bio Register and Vortex, the redesigned ELN gives molecular biologists a fully integrated commercial solution supporting their biologics discovery.
New Collaboration Support
Spaces is a social teamboard application designed to enhance communication of scientific data across dispersed teams within a company or in multi-company collaborative research networks. Spaces provides a highly flexible set of interactive scientific teamboards that facilitate timely decision making, real-time social communication on scientific data, and results between all members of a project team.
Infrastructure Enhancements
A new scientific data management system (SDMS) capability in 5.0 allows data files generated by instruments connected to remote PCs to be automatically uploaded and stored in the Dotmatics system, with versioning, audit and digital signature information attached. The data files are immediately available for inclusion in the ELN (Studies Notebook) – a huge benefit to users who would have previously had to navigate the network to find the files, or even take a USB stick to the instrument PC. In addition, 5.0 contains expanded RESTful Web Services APIs. These APIs allow developers to integrate Dotmatics capabilities with third party software (for example calling Dotmatics registration as a service directly from a third party ELN) to support common scientific discovery workflows that cross multiple vendors’ offerings.
New Chemistry Capabilities
- Dotmatics through its partnership with eMolecules, a leading provider of reagents used in research, will provide its highly curated available reagents database within a Browser project. This has created a new product within 5.0 called ChemSelector. With ChemSelector, the Browser is automatically updated from E-molecules’ cloud resulting in a reduction in IT time and resource savings. ChemSelector calculates properties important to chemists as they identify reagents that they wish to use in their experiments.
- Dotmatics has licensed the industry standard clogP algorithm and will be providing the calculations in 5.0.
- Dotmatics Register can now support molecules of up to 100 residues, which will allow customers working with larger peptide molecules to be able to add these to their corporate chemical registration system.
A free webinar will be held on Thursday, November 2 from 9:00-10:00 am Pacific Time. Dr. Rob Brown and Alister Campbell will highlight how 5.0 helps scientific teams be even more effective in external collaborations and more productive in small molecule and biologics discovery projects. The webinar will demonstrate how 5.0 can help research IT organizations better integrate Dotmatics solutions with their existing applications and infrastructure and achieve a lower TCO (total cost of ownership).
