Desert Vascular Imaging Awarded ICAVL Accreditation

MESA, Ariz., Oct. 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Desert Vascular Imaging, located near Banner Desert Medical Center in Mesa, has recently been recognized by the Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Vascular Laboratories (ICAVL) for its commitment to providing high-level patient care and quality testing for the diagnosis of vascular disease. Desert Vascular Imaging is now one of a select number of vascular laboratories in the United States and the only free-standing facility in the Phoenix metro area to meet or exceed the rigorous ICAVL standards for non-invasive vascular testing.

“Accreditation is important because it signifies to our patients that our lab has been reviewed by an independent agency and has been recognized for our commitment to quality and complete testing,” explains Paul L. Vaughn, M.D., F.A.C.S., Medical Director of Desert Vascular Imaging and a Board certified vascular surgeon. “Many people do not realize the high standard of care that our lab offers. This accreditation now makes our vascular lab one of very few labs in Arizona that qualifies for this recognition. This assures that any testing performed here is equal in quality to any medical center in the country performing similar procedures with ICAVL accreditation. Each patient will receive the standard of care that is expected at all highly regarded medical centers. It is important for our patients and referring physicians to understand the difference between a credentialed lab and all of the others.”

During the accreditation process, every aspect of the laboratory’s daily operations and its impact on the quality of health care provided to patients is assessed and reviewed. While completing the application, laboratories are required to identify and correct potential problems, revising protocols and validating quality assurance programs. Participation in the accreditation process demonstrates the laboratory’s attention to a high level of patient care and quality testing. ICAVL accreditation is valid for a period of three years.
