CommodiCast Changes Name To Qforma

SANTA FE, N.M., Oct. 26 /PRNewswire/ -- CommodiCast, Inc., an advanced analytics company, announced today that it has changed its name to Qforma. This change reflects the company's focus on identifying and quantifying important patterns in complex data to provide actionable information to the pharmaceutical industry.

"The 'Q' in Qforma represents our quantitative approach to data, and in Latin 'forma' means pattern or model. The new name more accurately defines our mission of providing better tools for sales and marketing teams, to help them eliminate costly inefficiencies," said Kelly D. Myers, co-founder and CEO of Qforma. "At Qforma we quantify market and customer changes to identify predictive patterns with early alerts. For sales and marketing, this means that they can precisely allocate resources based on current behavioral indications and quickly adjust their strategies as behaviors evolve. Our tools are state-of-the-art, much needed and overdue in this complex industry."

The company's proprietary technology was first developed by physicists at Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) in northern New Mexico, the illustrious scientific hub renowned for its nuclear defense programs. Leveraging the talents of world-class physicists, mathematicians and programmers, Qforma has developed a unique approach for eliminating inefficiencies of traditional pharmaceutical sales and marketing techniques, and has combined software learning technologies with deep expertise in healthcare data.

"The environment in which pharma marketing executives are launching their products is changing dramatically," said Roger Jones, PhD, chairman and chief scientific officer of Qforma. "For example, the behaviors of their physician customers, which were previously segmented to fit a particular profile, are now in a state of flux due to environmental factors such as payor changes and generic competition. Reacting to such behavioral changes that have already taken place in a launch environment is costly and detrimental to the success of a brand. The wave of the future will be a shift from opinion-based research to the use of quantitative, scientific models like those pioneered by Qforma, which can map out the terrain of a pre- and post-launch marketplace with greater accuracy than ever-before possible."

One of the first applications of Qforma's technology was a collaborative project between LANL and General Motors. The technology was integrated into a smart and adaptive antilock breaking system for GM vehicles. "Learning" in real time, the system could quickly detect anomalies and road conditions during a panic stop and prevent a vehicle from spinning or flipping.
