Cadence Inc., the high-tech metalworking firm, hired 20 people from July to September as it began a major expansion announced earlier this year. The company, which makes blades and needles used in advanced medical devices and surgical equipment, disclosed the hiring in its third quarter financial report on Monday. Cadence’s net income for the quarter jumped 33 percent from last year’s level to nearly $1.8 million, outpacing a healthy 14 percent rise in sales. Its expansion includes a $2.5 million, 25,000-square-foot addition to its plant, on which it broke ground during the quarter.
