BioTox Sciences, a Contract Research Organization, offering GLP and none GLP preclinical contract research and Toxicology services, acquired a 20,000 SF vivarium on Sep. 1st, 2009 and is now fully operational at the new facility in Sorrento Valley, San Diego.
“This comes in due time to meet the budgetary, housing and location demands for San Diego Based Biotech and Pharmaceutical companies” said Sami Abunadi, BioTox Sciences’ President. “Since our incubation in Apr/2007, we have been striving to offer a centralized solution for companies needing to take their drugs to IND or submitting for an NDA, in addition to medical device(s) surgical testing. With our growth over the past few years, it was necessary to have a larger facility, which will allow us to handle the amount of work requested.

The new facility, built with large rooms and to AAALAC standards has the capabilities of housing rodents, rabbits, dogs, pigs, goat and primates all in a state of the art 24 holding room support vivarium, with two surgery suites, individual preparation rooms, three autoclaves, cage and tunnel washers, back up generator and an analytical lab to support preliminary analysis.
Not only can we now take on larger IND studies and have the space, quality and ALAAS certified staff to do so, but we can also now offer an ideal location for all sponsors (large or small) to house their animals in a secure place with individual room security, temperature and humidity controls, said Mr. Abunadi. The vivarium is equipped with a state of the art Edstrom Watchdog System that grants compliant and secure access system. Each sponsor will have an access code and can enter their study areas with full confidence that their study’s confidentiality is protected.
