Based at centre of Europe, with economic and political stability, as well as a highly educated & relatively young workforce, Poland is an attractive place for biotechnology. At Lodz, biotechnology business has gained attention with the establishment of Mabion and could attract foreign companies to set up operations under the scheme of Special Economic Zone. There are also sufficient number of academic institutions that in time to come will produce more IP's to seed further biotechnology growth. This is the first time BioForum is partnering with an Asian company and the vision to bring together two clusters of biotechnology companies from the two rapidly growing markets of Central Europe and Asia. As I see that there are many synergistic similarities in these two regions (high economic growth, high human potential as well as increasing investments in R&D by both governments and private funds) as well as complementary differences (access different markets, exchange in technical know-how's), I hope these interactions would further lead to collaborations and businesses between Central European and Asian companies, leveraging one another's unique strengths.
