NEW ORLEANS - Some 5,300 pediatricians and other health care professionals are expected to attend the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) 2003 National Conference and Exhibition (NCE) at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans Nov. 1-5. The meeting features over 300 sessions on issues such as childhood obesity, poison prevention and treatment, ADHD, advertising and addiction, pain management, and environmental health. The keynote speaker is Harvey Fineberg, MD, PhD, FAAP, president of the Institute of Medicine. Other featured speakers include Richard H. Carmona, MD, MPH, FACS, US Surgeon General, and E. Stephen Edwards, MD, FAAP, 2002- 2003 AAP president. Many press briefings, abstract presentations and sessions also will be held at the NCE. Here are some highlights.
