Virtual Radiologic Taps George Morgan as New CEO

MINNEAPOLIS, MN--(Marketwire - May 01, 2012) -

Virtual Radiologic (vRad), a technology-enabled national radiology practice and the largest telemedicine company in the world, announced today that George Morgan, former Chief Operating Officer (COO) of US Oncology, has been appointed Chief Executive Officer, effective immediately. Mr. Morgan brings over thirty years of leadership experience serving the healthcare industry, most recently for seven years as COO of US Oncology, one of the nation's largest networks of community-based oncology physicians dedicated to advancing cancer care in America. US Oncology was acquired by McKesson, Inc. in 2010.

"We are thrilled that George has decided to join the vRad team," said Dr. Pat Basu, COO and Chief Medical Officer of vRad. "He has a deep understanding of physicians' and hospitals' needs for innovative services, first-class quality and cutting-edge technologies. He brings tremendous operational excellence and leadership along with a proven track record of building organizations focused on offering the best patient care, physician cultures and customer service. With his experience and leadership, George will ensure that vRad continues to lead, innovate and provide the highest quality patient care to our large network of radiology partners and hospitals."

Mr. Morgan said, "High quality radiology, delivered in an efficient, coordinated manner, is critical to patient care. Thanks to its dedicated employees and radiologist partners, vRad has earned trust and recognition among radiology practices and hospitals through its years of strong partnership and commitment to quality. I'm excited to join vRad and look forward to building on that legacy as we work to meet radiologists' and hospitals' evolving demands for the full spectrum of radiology and teleradiology services, cutting-edge technology and other value-add solutions. vRad has a very bright future, and I look forward to helping it achieve its full potential."

Eran Broshy, Chairman of vRad's Board of Directors and a Senior Advisor at Providence Equity Partners, vRad's primary sponsor, said, "vRad's market leading services and technology will continue to be a positive transformational force in the radiology marketplace, and we are delighted that George will bring his high caliber experience and expertise to help the company continue to expand its leadership in this important area of healthcare. George is a highly experienced and talented leader who will help vRad achieve its next stage of growth. We also thank Rob Kill, who has moved on from the company after serving as CEO for five years, for his leadership in successfully transitioning vRad from a niche teleradiology provider to the strong market leader it is today."

During his tenure as COO at US Oncology, Mr. Morgan was responsible for the organization's significant growth. Largely through organic growth, US Oncology grew from $1.5 billion to over $3 billion in annual revenue. The company's success under Mr. Morgan's leadership enabled investment in deeper service capabilities such as internal quality and performance improvement programs in order to better support the company's physicians and patients. Mr. Morgan previously held executive roles for five years at HCA, the largest private operator of health care facilities in the world, as President of the Ambulatory Surgery Division and COO and previously Chief Financial Officer of the Western Group. Mr. Morgan currently serves as a member of the board of the University of South Florida (USF) Foundation and the USF Research Foundation, and as a community board member for the Florida State University (FSU) College of Medicine. He also chairs the Executive Advisory Council for the Dean of the College of Business at USF.
