Congressman Quayle Talks With Wolters Kluwer nv About Importance of Health Information
As chairman of the Science, Space and Technology Committee’s Subcommittee on Technology and Innovation, Rep. Quayle wants to gain more insight into the health information business and talked with Pharma Solutions as one of the industry leaders that also happens to be based in his constituancy. The Congressman met with Pharma Solutions joint presidents Bob Jansen and Michelle Woker and others from the Phoenix-based healthcare analytics team including Cathy Betz,Vice President, Government Affairs, and the company’s Arizona lobbyists, TriAdvocates, where he received a presentation on health information technology.

The meeting also addressed the U.S. Supreme Court’s ruling in June that individual states may not prohibit the use of information about physician healthcare practices in the marketing of medicines. The court’s decision holds that a Vermont statute violates the First Amendment by banning the voluntary exchange of information on a matter of public importance. During the meeting, Rep. Quayle also discussed Pharma Solutions’ role as a major Phoenix employer, and the importance of companies like Pharma Solutions that bring jobs to the local economy. “Your business provides the economic diversification that we need to grow in Arizona so we are not beholden to the boom and bust of the real estate market,” the Congressman commented.
