Bio-images and CPS Research Ltd. in Strategic Partnership to Benefit UK Clinical Research

August 24, 2011 -- Leading Glasgow-based research organisations Bio-Images Group and CPS Research have entered into a strategic partnership that aims to reduce the time it takes to bring new, enhanced drug formulations to the public, by providing a valuable one-stop resource for the global pharmaceutical industry.

The partnership agreement follows the successful completion this year of its first joint venture, a Phase I clinical study for a major pharmaceutical client.

Bio-Images Research is an established leader in gamma scintigraphy, a specialist medical imaging technique for assessing the behaviour of drug formulations. Along with formulation development company, Drug Delivery International, they form the Bio-Images Group. With a world-leading reputation and a highly skilled scientific workforce, the group attracts high value drug delivery studies from a global client base.

CPS Research is a premier, ISO 9001 accredited UK clinical research company, with over 20 years’ experience in patient recruitment and the conduct of Phase II, III and IV trials in almost every therapeutic area.

Professor Howard Stevens of the Bio-Images Group said: “We are very excited about this partnership with CPS as we are now able to offer our formulation and gamma scintigraphy customers an additional clinical research capability. Customers of both companies will benefit both from the close integration of pharmaceutical and clinical development services and from reduced development timelines.”

By marrying Bio-Images’ scientific experience in pharmaceutics and drug delivery with CPS’s clinical capabilities, the partnership will offer integrated pharmaceutical and clinical development solutions. Benefits include access to a wide patient base and a valuable clinical research ward facility at Bio-Images’ site in the Glasgow Royal Infirmary.

Dr Alan Wade of CPS said of the partnership: “In the current climate of reducing medical research being conducted in the UK, it is important that we are able to offer our customers a unique service of the very highest quality. This partnership with Bio-Images Research helps us fulfil this need.”
