mPlexus to Launch Image Sharing and Retrieval Software at Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) Convention

CHICAGO, Nov. 27, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- mPlexus is set to introduce DICOM RadiX, its revolutionary new software program that allows the newest automated, intelligent, instant image sharing and retrieval from medical imaging archives (PACS, VNA, etc) at this year's RSNA convention in Chicago.

Developed by a radiologist from Lafayette, IN, DICOM RadiX is the only image transfer software optimized for and tightly integrated with the mPlexus DICOM RPE enabling automated image sharing between facilities, even if those facilities are part of disparate healthcare systems. DICOM RadiX manages transfers of imaging studies intelligently and securely, regardless of geographic distance or the handling capability of receiving machines.

"Too many patients undergo repeat imaging studies because prior, relevant studies are not immediately available for review. In addition to the cost and unnecessary radiation exposure, the implications for the patient's quality of care cannot be overstated. RadiX saves time, money and potentially even lives," stated Dr. Steven Jones, President of mPlexus.

In addition to its significant time efficiency, RadiX removes much of the headache of building DICOM networks with other facilities, facilitating the ability to build and grow your own DICOM image sharing networks with a few simple clicks, eliminating the need for tracking down IT administrators to gain permission access.

Combined with the full functionality of the mPlexus DICOM RPE (http://www.mplexus.com/DICOMRPE.aspx), RadiX will also be useful in medical facilities' continued efforts toward vendor neutral and cloud archiving. RadiX overcomes the latency issues of WANs, by more aggressively and intelligently managing prefetching. RadiX may also be able to help facilities meet upcoming Stage 3 meaningful use criteria which are likely to include image sharing.
