Boston Business Journal -- Boston Scientific Corp. will shut down a factory in Ireland that employs 240 people, according to media reports.
The Natick, Mass.-based company (NYSE: BSX) said it is closing the plant by March as part of its deal with Avista Capital Partners, which bought Boston Scientific's fluid management business in February.
That business, now known as Navilyst Medical and headquartered in Marlborough, Mass., will move manufacturing of those products to its facility in Glens Falls, N.Y.
But that’s only about a third of what is manufactured at the soon-to-close Boston Scientific facility. The rest of those products will be shifted to another company facility elsewhere in the country, Boston Scientific said.
Boston Scientific continues to employ about 5,000 people throughout Ireland.
