Xradia’s Breakthrough VersaXRM 3D X-Ray Microscope Garners 2012 R&D 100 Award

PLEASANTON, CA--(Marketwire - June 20, 2012) -

The editors of R&D Magazine have bestowed the prestigious R&D 100 Award on Xradia’s breakthrough VersaXRM™ 3D X-ray imaging solution. Winners of the 50th Annual R&D 100 Awards honoring the 100 most technologically significant products unveiled during 2011 were announced today, recognizing innovation in diverse industry sectors such as telecommunications, high-energy physics, software, manufacturing, academia and biotechnology.

The VersaXRM-500 is advancing industry and science with a versatile combination of world-leading resolution and contrast, sample flexibility and the large working distance required to address emerging research challenges. In establishing new industry benchmarks, the VersaXRM-500 addresses crucial gaps facing diverse market segments such as semiconductor, materials science, geo sciences and life sciences.

The VersaXRM family builds on the superior resolution, contrast and flexibility inherent in Xradia platforms. The VersaXRM-500 supports high resolution at large working distances suitable for in situ studies using environmental chambers or load cells, studies over time and under varying environmental conditions. The solution extends beyond the boundaries of traditional microCT imaging, overcoming historical limitations that forced researchers to choose between conducting non-destructive imaging at insufficient resolution or destructive imaging at higher resolution.

Rod Browning, CEO of Xradia, says, “We are honored to receive this prestigious recognition for the VersaXRM-500. This award affirms the cutting-edge nature of what has become one of our most successful products across multiple market segments in academia and industry.”

Since 1963, the R&D 100 Awards have celebrated revolutionary technologies newly introduced to the market. Winning innovations such as the automated teller machine (1973), liquid crystal display (1980), and HDTV (1998) became household names, shaping everyday life in America. Winners are selected by an independent judging panel and the editors of R&D Magazine serving research scientists, engineers, and members of technical staffs at companies and research laboratories around the world.

This is the third R&D 100 award for Xradia, the first in 2003 for the TXM-54. The second was jointly awarded to Xradia and Argonne National Lab for the hard X-ray nanoprobe in 2010.
