(OTC BB: XKEM) announced today the United States Patent and Trademark Office has issued to Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) a notice of patent allowance relating to a method of treating Sickle Cell Disease (SCD) with a unique 5-membered heterocyclic anti-sickling agent known as 5-HMF. A notice of allowance is a written notification that a patent application has cleared an internal review and is nearing issuance.
