SHANGHAI, China, July 16 /Xinhua-PRNewswire/ -- China’s leading supplier of pharmaceutical R&D outsourcing services, WuXi PharmaTech, announced today the strategic appointment of Dr. Lijie Fu as the company’s VP of Operation and Head of Operation, SuZhou PharmaTech. Dr. Fu will report directly to Dr. Ge Li, Chairman and CEO of WuXi PharmaTech.

Prior to joining WuXi PharmaTech, Dr. Fu was Vice President of Global Integration for the San Francisco based Bridge Pharmaceuticals. In this role, he was responsible for the integration and coordination of Bridge Pharmaceutical’s American and Chinese operations, including guiding 20 key executives in developing annual strategic plans.
Before his tenure with Bridge Pharmaceuticals, Dr. Fu was the founder, President, and CEO of Next Century Incorporated, a fully Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) compliant contract research outsourcing firm. Under his direction and management, the Nanjing operation of Next Century became the first laboratory in China to receive full Association for Assessment and Accreditation of Laboratory Animal Care (AAALAC) accreditation, as well as the only toxicity testing laboratory in China to pass US GLP compliance inspection.
As the VP of Operation for WuXi PharmaTech and the Head of Operation for SuZhou PharmaTech, Dr. Fu will play an important role in the establishment and development of a full GLP compliant drug safety testing and evaluation facility in Suzhou. With over 28 years of management and scientific experience, Dr. Fu brings a wealth of knowledge and industry expertise to the rapidly growing service company.

Dr. Fu received his Doctorate of Philosophy in 1987 in Health Risk Assessment and Toxicology from the Shanghai Medical University, Shanghai, China, and his Master degree in 1982 from Shandong Academy of Medical Science, Ji’nan, China, after he graduated from Shanghai First Medical College, in 1977, Shanghai, China.
