The first chapter in the story of Google Glass is coming to an end. On Thursday Google GOOGL -0.36% announced the end of its open beta Explorer program for Glass, effective January 19.Google says that its Glass team is “graduating” from the company’s experimental Google X labs to become its own team. The Wall Street Journal reports that the Glass unit will be led by Ivy Ross and report to Tony Fadell, who runs Nest Labs for Google. Ross joined the Glass team last summer and has a background in design, from metalsmithing her own jewelry to leadership positions at Swatch, Coach COH -1.89%, Mattel MAT -1.93% and others.
