San Diego-based Illumina Inc. has leased nearly 100,000 square feet in San Francisco’s Mission Bay and plans to open up a major research and development facility there.
The gene sequencing company will occupy 97,700 square feet at 499 Illinois St., the empty half of a two-building development owned by Alexandria Real Estate Equities, according to real estate sources. FibroGen occupies the complex’s adjoining building at 409 Illinois St.
