Wellpoint Names Paul J. Gallagher SVP, Enterprise Operations

NORTH HAVEN, Conn., Feb. 1 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- WellPoint, Inc. announced today that Paul J. Gallagher has joined the company as senior vice president of Enterprise Operations, reporting to Mark Boxer, executive vice president, Technology and Operations, and chief information officer for WellPoint.

Gallagher will be responsible for developing and implementing enterprise- wide operations strategies, initiatives and services that increase operational efficiency and lower costs, while improving the customer service experience for members, employers, providers and producers.

According to Boxer, "Paul is a seasoned operations executive with extensive experience leading large, high-volume, transaction-processing organizations that support complex products and millions of customer interactions. He has a strong track record of developing and applying new and innovative technologies and business processes that change the way firms approach their business."

Most recently, Gallagher served as SVP of Service Delivery for AXA Financial. Previously, he was president of Fidelity Service Company, the transfer agent for Fidelity's retail business, and an EVP of Fidelity Brokerage Company. The former Group Operations director for Jardine Fleming in Hong Kong, Gallagher's background also includes a number of senior operations management positions at Morgan Stanley, including a role as COO for the Far East Division of Morgan Stanley Services.

He holds an MBA from Cornell University and a BA degree from Franklin and Marshall College. He also holds series 7 and 24 security licenses.
