Smith & Nephew can prosper as a standalone company, its chief executive has insisted, brushing away takeover speculation surrounding the UK medical device maker.
Olivier Bohuon cited growth in the highly competitive US market for hip and knee implants as proof the company could survive on its own.
“Despite what many people say about needing to be big, we have beaten the market in knees and hips,” he said.
