ORLANDO, Fla., March 17, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Vestagen, Inc., a technology company transforming traditional scrubs into protective medical device apparel, and Dove Professional Apparel today announced that they have entered into an agreement for Dove to produce and distribute protective garments for nursing school students manufactured using Vestagen’s VESTEX® protective fabric. Under the terms of the non-exclusive agreement, Dove will sell their own EZ Stretch brand of VESTEX-protected uniforms and scrubs produced under a VESTEX license. Dove is the one of the largest providers of custom uniforms to nursing schools in the U.S.
“An important element of our strategy is to partner our revolutionary VESTEX protective fabrics with market leaders who have an aligned commitment to innovation that addresses the dynamic conditions affecting healthcare providers and patients,” said Uncas “Ben” B. Favret III, President and Founder of Vestagen. “For more than 30 years, Dove has built a powerful national brand in the nursing school community, and we expect their new VESTEX-protected product line will increase awareness and preference for the VESTEX brand early in students’ careers.”
VESTEX represents a new class of active barrier protective fabrics for everyday use that is clinically proven to prevent or reduce the acquisition and retention of microbes and other contaminants. VESTEX is engineered to have robust liquid repellency and embedded antimicrobial properties, along with enhanced breathability, good durability and affordability.
Kevin Anderson, President and General Manager of Dove, commented, “We are excited to add the unique and compelling VESTEX technology to our offering. We see the growing demand for protective fabrics in the healthcare industry and we believe we have chosen the best provider on the market today to help us deliver this important solution to our customers. We are proud to offer the widest range of uniform solutions in the industry, along with an easy order entry process tailored for nursing students.”
Apparel made with VESTEX-protected fabrics is initially targeted at healthcare workers, who are at daily risk of exposure to splatters and spills of dangerous fluids during patient care and who can unknowingly spread these contaminants to other workers, patients, family members and the general public. Garments made with VESTEX are also expected to offer benefits to patients and to workers in such occupations as public safety, first responders, the food and hospitality industry, and competitive sports.
Contaminated clothing is a known carrier of bacteria and healthcare workers have the highest rate of illness and injury of any occupation in the U.S. Contamination with difficult-to-treat organisms such as MRSA puts workers at risk and is responsible for many of the most serious healthcare acquired infections. A peer-reviewed published study confirmed that VESTEX-protected scrub uniforms demonstrated a statistically significant reduction in MRSA of more than 99.99% compared to the non-protective scrub uniforms used in hospitals today.
Separately, Vestagen announced that CEO Bill Bold will present an overview of the company’s strategy and progress at the MedCity INVEST Conference in Chicago on the afternoon of April 12, 2016. For more information, see http://events.medcitynews.com/invest.
