Varian Medical Systems To Highlight The Latest Digital Detectors And X-Ray Tubes At The MEDICA 2014 International Trade Fair

SALT LAKE CITY, Nov. 12, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Booth - A78/Hall 10 -- Varian Medical Systems, Inc. (NYSE: VAR) will exhibit a full line of PaxScan® digital image detectors, imaging software and X-ray tubes at the MEDICA 2014 International Trade Fair in Dusseldorf, Germany from November 12-15, 2014.

The Varian booth will highlight:

  • PaxScan® 4336W Wireless Flat Panel Detector - The PaxScan 4336W wireless flat panel X-ray detector features Varian’s proprietary, advanced wireless technology with state-of-the art 6th generation architecture incorporating 16-bit data acquisition, which enables rapid image acquisition. The lightweight, cassette-sized, portable (43 x 36 cm) detector is optimized for dose efficiency and very low electronic noise. The 4336W is a dual band detector licensed for use in most global markets. “The high speed data transfer rates, (up to 170 Mbps) makes it possible to transmit image data in real-time across a reliable wireless link, producing a preview in as little as two seconds,” said Carl LaCasce, vice president sales and marketing for Varian’s Imaging Components.
  • B-147 X-ray tube - The new custom-designed B-147 X-ray tube incorporates a heat exchanger and housing in a single unit. This diagnostic air-cooled housing can dissipate five times the amount of heat than was possible with earlier tube designs. It offers a simpler, robust, value-driven option for powering X-ray imaging systems. The housing was designed to fit into a variety of OEM system configurations and is suitable for use in stationary radiography/fluoroscopy or fixed C-arm systems.
  • Imaging Software and Workstations Varian’s digital radiography imaging software is designed for installation into new or existing radiographic rooms or mobile X-ray systems. It incorporates advanced algorithms that can support multiple flat panel detectors.

European Sales & Service Center
As the world’s largest independent supplier of X-ray tubes, Varian has a dedicated facility at its service center in Willich, Germany, where X-ray tubes are available in inventory for rapid shipment. This facility reloads, rebuilds and distributes medical X-ray tubes for immediate delivery throughout Europe. “Having an X-ray products facility in Willich significantly enhances our ability to serve European customers on an expedited basis,” said LaCasce. “We’re able to offer regional product and support services, which help increase our customers’ competitiveness in the marketplace.”
