Smith & Nephew PLC, a U.K.-based medical device maker, has bought San Clemente-based LifeModeler Inc. for an undisclosed price through its U.S. subsidiary, Smith & Nephew Inc. LifeModeler makes software that allows medical device makers, hospitals shoe and golf club makers to use computers to test how designs would work on people. Smith & Nephew said that it has worked with LifeModeler for more than 10 years, using the San Clemente company’s LifeMod human simulation software to develop several of its products.
