Trevigen launches LDVE Free Basement Membrane Extract within its Cultrex® product line of Cell Differentiation and Angiogenesis products. Basement Membrane Extract (BME) can be used for promotion and maintenance of a differentiated phenotype in a variety of cell cultures including primary epithelial cells, endothelial cells, and smooth muscle cells.
Trevigen’s LDVE Free designation means that in addition to standard sterility, endotoxin and MAP testing, the BME is tested by PCR and is clear of 31 pathogens and viruses, including LDEV. Each lot is strictly qualified in biological performance assays. LDVE Free BME is offered in normal and reduced growth factor form, with and without phenol red, and is ideal for in vivo murine research work and other work requiring BME free from viruses, bacteria and mycoplasma.
The many applications for Cultrex Basement Membrane Extract, require different thicknesses and concentrations. Examples include use of diluted extract at <5 mg/ml for support of primary cell propagation; higher concentration >5 mg/ml for cell propagation and differentiation studies. Basement Membrane Extract is ideal for Tube Assay, Ring Assay, cell invasion studies, in vivo and in vitro angiogenesis assays, tumorgenicity and 3D Culture Assays.
