The Week in Review: ChinaBio(R) LLC Partnering Forum 2012 Scheduled for Suzhou

February 18, 2012 -- ChinaBio® and EBD Group announced the fourth annual ChinaBio® Partnering Forum, the premier partnering event for China pharma, will be held in Suzhou on May 23-24, 2012; Beijing Leadman Biochemistry raised $79 million in an IPO on the Shenzhen’s ChiNext exchange; Zhejiang Medicine offered 70 million shares in a private placement that will add $254 million to the company’s treasury; BioDuro signed a three-year agreement with Dow AgroSciences to develop crop protection molecules; BGI launched its first European Genome Research Center in Copenhagen; China plans to expand its list of essential drugs to 800, up from 307 in the initial group released in 2009; GlaxoSmithKline will begin investigating traditional Chinese medicines as a source for patentable drugs; Asymchem Laboratories opened a new large-scale manufacturing plant in Dunhua, China; and Tianyin Pharma began construction of a new manufacturing facility in Qionglai.
