The Week In Review: Biotech Takes A Small Breather

November 26, 2006 – The week of Thanksgiving is supposed to be a quiet affair, and 2006 lived up (or perhaps down) to the advance billing. The Centient Biotech 200™ ended the week with a 25 point loss at 3985, a decrease of .63%. While the IPO sector is quiet for the moment, the collection of recent biotech IPOs are performing very well, with the 2006 crop now 29% higher. Acorda and Omrix have both tripled, making them among the best of any IPOs for the period. Sangamo moved up 29% on takeover speculation; Immunogen rose 22% after Cantor Fitzgerald began coverage of the company with a Buy rating; and CoTherix jumped 20% on a buyout. More details...
