DALLAS, April 26 /PRNewswire/ -- For the second consecutive year, The Beryl Companies, the nation's premier healthcare-exclusive customer interaction center, has been chosen by the Dallas Business Journal as one of the "Best Places to Work" among all mid-size companies in the greater Dallas- Fort Worth area. Beryl was ranked 2nd overall in this category of organizations.
More than 250 companies entered this year's competition that was designed to recognize businesses that "go the extra mile to create a vital workplace for their employees." Management and employees completed surveys featuring questions in five specific categories: business success, personal and professional development, culture, benefits and leadership. Employees' responses accounted for 60 percent of the total score and management responses accounted for 40 percent.
The questions themselves were based on many national surveys and research data identifying characteristics that distinguish companies from one another in terms of workplace environment.
"The companies honored this year beat out dozens of challengers in every category, not just because of good pay or nice benefits, but because of the strong sense of engagement they have been able to instill in their workers," explains Huntley Payton, publisher of the Dallas Business Journal. "The employees at our Best Places to Work are fired up and there's no telling what a fired up team can accomplish."
The Beryl Companies, based in Bedford (a suburb of Dallas), Texas since 1998 began its 20th year of business this month. More than 200 employees work in the company's 46,000 square foot state-of-the-art call center that serves hospitals, hospital systems, health plans and other healthcare organizations nationwide. Since its founding, Beryl's call advisors have provided physician and service referrals, health information, nurse triage and class/seminar registration to more than 15 million callers on behalf of over 500 clients. A million more people have interacted with Beryl via e-mail and the Internet.
"Being recognized as one of the Best Places to Work for the second year in a row is a tribute to our dedicated employees and the extremely high level of service they provide to our customers," said Beryl Founder and Chief Executive Officer Paul Spiegelman. "The decision to move the company from California to Texas in 1998 was a good one, Spiegelman says. "We found the area to be business friendly and we discovered we had access to great people and great technology."
Pride at Beryl is seen throughout the organization. "I think Beryl's strict adherence to its values makes it special," says Bekah Johnson, a Managed Care specialist. "We're constantly reminded how important it is to always do the right thing, have a passion for customer service, and never sacrifice quality."
