22 March 2012 -- TAP Biosystems, a leading supplier of innovative cell culture systems and consumables for life science applications, today announces that Dr Mike Evans will become Non-Executive Chairman following Matthew Bullock’s retirement after 13 years on 31st March 2012, and that Dr Manfred Baier will join the Board as a non-executive Director.

Dr Mike Evans has over 20 years experience in directing the commercial and operating strategy of major life science companies, including GE Healthcare and Oxford Gene Technology, and has been a non-executive Director of TAP since 2005. His experience of building successful life science businesses along with his knowledge of TAP make him well placed to take on the role of Chairman.

Dr Manfred Baier has held senior research, manufacturing, marketing and general management positions at Boehringer Mannheim and Roche Diagnostics over a 30 year career. He was Head of Roche Applied Sciences until his retirement in 2011 and brings a wide range of experience relevant to TAP’s transition to a provider of innovative cell culture systems, associated reagents and consumables.

Matthew Bullock commented: “I am delighted that Mike is going to succeed me as Chairman. TAP’s new products are being well received in the market and there is a strong pipeline of additional products to be launched over the next few years. I have enjoyed the past 13 years as Chairman and I wish Mike and the team every success in taking the company forward”.

Dr Mike Evans continued: “I’m very pleased to become Chairman at this exciting stage of TAP’s development. I would like to thank Matthew for all of his input and support over the years and would also like to welcome Manfred to the Board. The executive team at TAP, led by Chief Executive, David Newble, is focused on successfully introducing a new range of cell culture products that will provide the platform for the company’s further growth, and Manfred’s experience will help us to achieve this going forward.”
