Cambridge-based MC10, a developer of electronics that stretch and bend with the body’s movements, on Friday disclosed it’s raised $19.8 million in new equity funding.
The funding was disclosed in a filing with the SEC, which says the first funding in the round was raised on Dec. 13. Investors in the round were not named in the filing.
The funding follows the company’s $18 million Series C round — $8 million of which was disclosed in April (the initial $10 million was announced in December 2012). MC10 has now raised at least $57.8 million since its founding in 2008.
Investors in the company previously have included Braemar Energy Ventures, North Bridge Venture Partners and Medtronic.
Earlier this month, MC10 announced it has hired former Motorola Mobility executive Sanjay Gupta as VP of product development.
The company’s first product is a thin mesh skullcap that fits under the helmet, and identifies impacts on the head during play. The product was developed by MC10 and Reebok’s Advanced Concepts group.
The company said its devices also include sensors that monitor heart rate, brain activity, muscle function, body temperature and hydration, as well as “an entirely new class of intelligent medical devices” which contain embedded sensors for improved sensing and therapeutic capabilities.
