ARIZONA (US) — Cells may control genes by simply stretching them, a discovery that could pave the way for applications that require precise control over gene expression, such as the “lab on a chip.” “We are able to turn off gene expression just by stretching the DNA,” says lead researcher Koen Visscher, associate professor of molecular and cellular biology at the University of Arizona.
