HINSDALE, Ill., July 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Since 1977, we at Adventist Health System Midwest Region have recognized the need for a new hospital in Bolingbrook, a need that was ultimately validated by the courts. Throughout the process, Adventist has respected the process and played by the rules. Above all, it is critical that all projects currently before the Board get a fair hearing, and decisions are made based on the merits of each application, unclouded by allegations of impropriety by others.
According to the Board's rules, they must rule on our application by October. It is unclear whether a new Board will be in place at that time and whether its members will have the knowledge needed to make these critical decisions.
While we believe it is important that the allegations of impropriety at the Health Facilities Planning Board be addressed to ensure decisions about health facilities be made fairly, we urge the Governor and the General Assembly to act quickly to resolve the situation so that the residents of the Village of Bolingbrook and surrounding communities need not wait unnecessarily for expanded health facilities.
For more than 20 years we have invested in Bolingbrook and surrounding communities and worked cooperatively with the Health Facilities Planning Board to bring needed health services to the region. We look forward to accomplishing our goal of building a hospital in Bolingbrook that will serve the health care needs of the communities for many years to come.
