SUNNYVALE, Calif., July 22 /PRNewswire/ -- Starion Instruments, a leading surgical device company, today announced a non-exclusive distribution agreement with Datascope Corp. to integrate Starion’s patented Tissue Welding technology into Datascope’s procedural kits for endoscopic saphenous vein and radial artery harvesting.
The driving force behind this new agreement was Datascope’s customer demand for Starion’s Tissue Welding technology, which uses direct heat and pressure to simultaneously seal and divide soft tissue and vessels, reducing the risk of inadvertent collateral damage. Datascope customers now have access to Starion’s STLS 23 and STLS 35 Thermal Ligating Shears for unparalleled effectiveness, reliability and versatility during endoscopic cardiac procedures.
Dr. Antonino Laudani, chief operating officer of Datascope, said, “We are continuously looking for opportunities to meet customer needs in the cardiovascular market. Starion’s distribution agreement allows us to broaden our endoscopic vessel harvesting range, and therefore contributes to our global growth strategy.”
“Demand for our products is growing as surgeons and patients experience the clinical benefits of Tissue Welding technology over traditional seal and cut modalities,” said Kirt Kirtland, president and chief executive officer of Starion Instruments. “This new agreement reflects this increased demand and enables us to strengthen our leadership position in the cardiac marketplace.”
