"This is a unique installation in that it is the first combined physician owned lab and dedicated cardiac ASC in the state of Florida" says Tom Pompeii, VP of Sales at CMS Imaging.
Several years ago ten Interventional Cardiologists representing four independent Cardiology practices formed a group with the interest of building a Physician Outpatient Owned Lab (POL) and combination Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC). Jay Habit, Trinias Product Manager for Shimadzu states, "The goal behind this combination was to provide first class interventional cardiology care, as well as, combine procedures typically only available in a Hospital setting that were becoming available on the ASC fee schedule. The end result was a state of the art facility using the very best in healthcare to provide exceptional outpatient imaging and surgical care".
In making the decision the physicians compared several systems and selected Shimadzu based on the unique features, panel size, SCORE, SMART, SMILE, dose savings and image quality. Assisting and driving this decision was PK Consultants which has done other projects for CMS Imaging. This was an exceptional win based on another great install and reference from physician and clinical users at First Coast Heart and Vascular Center of Jacksonville, FL.
The ASC was open for cases in March and will be performing cardiac catheterization (coronary angiography), peripheral angiography, coronary angioplasty/stenting, peripheral angioplasty/stenting, pacemaker placement, defibrillator placement and electrophysiology studies.
Heart & Rhythm Institute and Cardiovascular Institute combined their equipment purchase of the Trinias C12 MiX and Eizo 58" high resolution diagnostic monitor with Mennen Hemo and Reporting, as well as, VidiStar image archival. This combination allows for complete flexibility to go from EP, Cardiac and Peripheral Intervention procedures to open surgical cases on specific days of the week.
